“My humps… my humps my my humps my humps!
Get you love drunk off my humps!”
lyrics adapted from “My humps” song, Black eyed peas.
WE, SINGAPOREANS love to keep the skin of our butts “baby smooth”, but due to the excessive friction between our butts and the fiberglass seats, we conclude that The Body Shop’s body scrub and Johnson & Johnson’s baby moisturizers are insufficient to keep our lovely humps as silky as our oily faces. And we are constantly on the search of the best butt protector in the market.
HOLD UP! *screeches to an abrupt halt*
There is no official market for dragon boat seat pads, but it seems that a familiar furniture shop seem to have solved our butt skin protect-ant issues a long time ago – IKEA. Are we ready to give the best humps protector award to IKEA? No! Let’s dispute this and push this seat pad to the vigors of dragon boating before it can claim its #1 position.
We shall examine this in 5 different parts:
- Durability
- Flexibility
- Traction/Grip
- Style
- Price
But first, we need someone to volunteer their seat pad for this “gentle” examination. NOW… who owns one of these???
We will know coming Sunday…

Wow…i so definately need it now for training….after ever since my op..yikes
hey jon heng! how have you been?!
Heys Caron….hahaha well on the curing side haha ….so miss training i coming this sun…Thank God
Not very helpful for HY’s new style of rowing leh, keeps on dropping…. LOL! Must have something sticky on the backside facing the seat….
Yeah, i ended up sliding it away halfway rowing… I’m experimenting on the car non-slip rubber mat… too thin… not much cushion unlike the IKEA pad…
I shall try combining both =D
Hehehe… who wants to volunteer theirs? Since it’s not working for our new style of rowing.
Alright, I’m going to use mine!
*sob!*
Use this with those anti-slip mat glued below. Hope this helps…..
yeah, the anti-slip mat works really well, but wears out fast.
How about just wearing a sport tights but with seat pad embedded inside? Sounds cool huh…i saw one of the dragonboater from Splashh team wore those…
U mean the ones they use for cycling?
Rugby apparel manufacturers should have padded shorts in their catalogue – check Canterbury, Adidas, Nike, Kooga etc. Previously they look like normal PE shorts with thicker material sewn on the hind region, but nowadays they look like cycling tights with pads wrapped around the thighs and buttocks.
Oh.. won’t the tights tear over time?
