Kiyah-Splashh!

Haven’t you heard?

A group of Kiyah-Splashhies and 8 boys from ITE College West brought home a COOKIE (note: jargon for Medal :D ) from Putrajaya, Malaysia.The idea of competing in an international race with teams from all over the region seems like a good deal, plus the bonus of bonding with your teammates in a foreign place seems fresh after the uncountable lunches together at the  Marina Square Foodcourt.

The collaboration with the boys from ITE College West was probably a Heaven-planned coincidence. We needed them, they needed us, in order to be eligible for the 20-Crew races. The result: An amazing 3rd Placing for the 1Malaysia International Dragonboat Festival 2010, 22-Crew Corporate Open. :D

Way to go!

It was one hell of an experience racing with powerhouses like the Filipino Dragons, Pacific West, Kanoe Putra and many more. We were particularly impressed with the local malaysian teams. Never in our wildest dreams would we expect the normal build men and women (wearing their tudongs) to serve us with their backwashes for our appetizer, main course, and dessert.  A very good example that size does not matter. They are really lean and mean.

I guess this weekend’s lunch will be a particularly long one, with so many stories that we live to tell. ( A group of them nearly had an accident, but luckily the KFC meal paid by our dear coach, Haoyuan, will not be their last).  ‘

He gladly sacrificed his beautiful red hot Tuscani Sports car to serve as our wonderful Clothes Hanger for the 2 days at the race site.

Now on to tired rowers taking a nap..

Our team has a queer habit of snapping sleeping teammates…. If you don’t wanna get caught on cam, stay awake!

The BFFs have finally made up! No more hard feelings about who’s later for trainings…
