This team has always been fortunate to have many ’crouching tigers’ and ‘hidden dragons’ in its midst. Just browse through the archives to discover some of Kiyah-Splashh!’s latent talents for yourself. But right here and now, we turn the spotlight on Haikang, whom some of us know affectionately as ”Kang Kang”. Besides being a jet-setting financial engineer and loving hubby, as most of us know him to be, Haikang is also one of a few ex-varsity dragonboat team captains we have in the KS family. I bet most of you didn’t know that right?

Do check out Haikang’s cheeky response to our Hard-10 interview questions below. And if you can’t get enough of him, go read his personal blog to find out what he’s up to in Europe ;)
What are you busy with these days?
I am currently busy with completing a list of “Hard-10″ questions given to me by Ngee Boon. Damn, the first question is just so darn ‘hard’.
What got you interested in dragonboating and when did you pick it up?
I was in the canoeing team during junior college and while the seniors go for their canoeing championships, the juniors occupy themselves with dragonboat rowing. By the way, I was from national junior college and at that time, the NJCians were not as spectacular as the team you see now.
If you were in another club or a school team before, which team was it and what was your role then?
I was always the joker in the team, be it the school team or club team. As the joker, you basically crack jokes when morale is low, like balls level low, in order to boost the team spirits. It is a real art, cracking the wrong jokes get you bumped out of the boat, choosing the right ones gives you the privilege of sitting out one set of training.Â
I think the joker role is currently played by Raymond ‘Razor RarMon’ in Kiyah-Splashh. He always get to be the coxswain, sitting out of trainings all the time.
Could you share a memorable dragonboating experience you had with us?
There are so many memorable ones. I think the best one was losing the first PM cup as a crew in the NUS team by almost 3 boat lengths. I remembered the then PM Mr GOh Chok Tong comparing the NTU rowers to NUS – it didn’t help that the NTU rowers were all clad in tight-fitting wet shirts whilst the NUS crew was dressed up in dripply wet T-shirts. We looked like a bunch of losers. Mr Goh said something like ‘From the looks of it, you (NUS) guys have a lot to catch up on’. We beat the NTU team the next year
with me as the coach.
Do you have a Friendster account and/or a personal blog that we can look up?
Check out this site: http://www.eaststop.blogspot.com/
Complete this sentence: I love to row with Kiyah-Splashh! because
I am never around!!! hahaha…
Any other message you’d like to send to your friends at Kiyah-Splashh?
Call me!!!
What will be your next goal in Kiyah-Splashh?
To come down for training, if Kiyah-Splashh ever comes to London River Thames to row.
Who do you recommend we interview next?
Errr…how about Jessica Alba?

Hai Kang, you never put down mobile number how on earth is anyone supposed to call you? ;p Say say only lah. Haha…
Hai Kang, so the Sisterhood did cross the Channel in less than four hours but without the winsome Kate Middleton. This report http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=477808&in_page_id=1770, actually painted the Sisters as rather ditzy bimbos (sigh…). Guys will be happy looking at the pictures in Gallery 2 (Saucy Sisterhood) – essentially bodypainting to raise funds.
