When one of the best dragon boat teams in Singapore asked us whether we will be interested in a friendly paddling sparring session, our response was, “Right on!”
In fact, the National Junior College dragon boat team has persistently swept the medals and trophies clean from the local scene for years, and has extended its trophy collection to the 6th Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) in Penang last year! Let’s do a quick recall of what they had earned.
Junior Mixed 2000m – Gold
Junior Open 2000m – Gold
Junior Mixed 500m – Gold
Junior Women 500m – Gold
Junior Men 500m – Silver
Junior Mixed 200m – Gold
Junior Women 200m – Gold
Junior Men 200m – Silver
(Junior category: under 18 on 1 Jan 2008)
*Gasp!* And they told us that they are going at it again this year. Such determination and vigor! We wish the young NJCians the best of luck! To add, we would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to row with them on two occasions. The experience of training with them is both exhausting yet memorable.

After all, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?
